IM Nikolay Andrianov is scheduled to be back October 1-October 5 for his monthly visit to conduct chess training at the Ashburn Chess Center. This is also in time for those who would to prepare and play in the Continental Class tournament. Training is for players of all ages.

IM Andrianov is a world-class trainer, and has been the second and trainer of former world champions, which include Vassily Smyslov and Maya Chiburdanidze. He has also taught all over the world, which includes Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Arizona.

I met Nikolay in India in 1996, and I have invited him to the Philippines in 1998. During that time, he was the trainer of FM Paolo del Mundo, who eventually became an outstanding player in two Pan Am champion teams, the Under 2400 World Open Champion, and tied for first in the 2007 US Open aside from tournaments here in Northern Virginia. Chess has done well for Paolo and is a software engineer by profession. Though people often talk about the importance of chess in education, it is also needed to have the best kind of training to maximize the potential of our players, which can only be provided by world class trainers like IM Nikolay Andrianov The Ashburn Chess Center is proud to sponsor the presence of IM Nikolay Andrianov, and encouraged its members to get regular training under the scheduled monthly visit of Nikolay.
